A Once in a Lifetime, Forever Love.A Poem by Tom BrosmanYou might love others, you might re marry even. Once in a lifetime a person meets and loves "The One" and is forever changed, forever missing the other half of thier heart whenit breaks up.A Yankee's Loss By Tom Brosman It was the mighty blue clad Northern Army That defeated those in gray from Southern Soil But a Yankee from North of the Columbia River Lost his heart and his soul
to a Carolina Girl Never in that Yankee's past or all his future
life Would he love so
passionately and so deeply His heart was sliced when he lost his Southern
Wife His Dear One, his sweetheart from the
Carolinas Now, the flowers and the trees are more
brilliant As the Yankee lives his life in loss and pain He wears the loss of her like a heavy winter coat Knowing he'll never see his Darling Girl again She was a gift from all that is fine and that is
Light Feminine, beautiful, gorgeous from the Carolinas Her memories still affects his daily walk and
life His heart is gratitude for the moments they
shared
Once a Southern Girl bathed light into a Yankee soul She was his everything and she was his life's
reason It was his own brokenness that caused him such a
loss She depended on him and he surely let her down In the deepest parts of the darkest, darkest
nights In his best dreams he still holds her dear and
close He can smell her hair and hear her voice so
bright His Darling, Darling, the one he will love the
most The Yankee often, with his head bowed low In a forest far away from city sounds and noise Thanks and thanks again the Great Creator so That once he married a girl from the Carolinas © 2013 Tom Brosman |
