The Sponge and WaterA Poem by TohJieyiA fast-forwarded first love.. Do enjoy :)
I’m a sponge
That can’t hold much water. I’ll get drown in it Should I absorb all at one go. Its overflowing; the water So heavy that I sink into the bowl. Looked up and saw what was coming- Yes, more water to go. There, the water keeps coming Keeping me moist and fuzzy. Knowing that the flow is too fast for me to absorb I prayed for the tap to slow down much more. Don’t be mistaken; I’m made to hold in water. For it’s the water that keep me going And the reason that I’m not parched. As the clock ticked off endlessly I began to understand one thing: The sponge is made for the water Its just that reality has yet to sink in. Please give me some time Let’s take things slowly. We shall turn down the gushing tap While the sponge takes in water steadily. And there I lay on the bowl Looking up at the water flow. Glad that its there to support my existence Touched by the warmth and it made me glow. Today, I’m a smiley-faced sponge. © 2011 TohJieyi |
