"A" comes before "Z"A Story by TobbylobbaHelps us to know what to do per time.
Scholars of Economics have made us understand that the
human wants are unlimited and insatiable because the resources required are limited. Thus, with each passing day, everyone struggles to ensure that one is able to keep ones’ head and by extension, family and friends above water. We wake up each day with the same dogged determination to make sure that to an extent, we live a life of comfort and be able to be a force to reckon with in the Economic society, so to say. However, it seemingly appears that life isn’t fair to everyone and just as some people are at the apex of the Economic ladder smiling in affluence, some others toil and sweat as they are at different positions on the ladder trying and hoping to get up, and quite sadly too, some others don’t have the wherewithal to undergo the herculean task of ascending the ladder and as such, are stuck at the base of the ladder gnashing their teeth in anguish. But, one thing is mutual to them all. They all want to satisfy their wants and as such at a point would have asked some questions like: ‘’What will I eat?’’ ‘’How will I pay my bills?’’ ‘’How will I have a successful relationship?’’ ‘’How do I get to the pinnacle of my career?’’ Et cetera. But good gracious, Jesus Christ seems to have answered the question that even the brightest of Economists could and cannot still prove yet. Just like when Christ was on earth, some people confronted him with such questions like the ones above. He replied them in Matthew 6:31(KJV) ‘’therefore take no thought, saying what shall we eat? Or, what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? He continued by saying our Father in Heaven knows that we have need of all these things . v32 But He gave a condition- v33: ‘’But seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.’’ He said ‘ ’all these things’’ meaning that all the theories Adam Smith and co propounded about human wants being insatiable are not found in His dictionary. Once you have Christ, you have everything and have nothing to worry about… Paul confirmed this in his letter to the brethren at Phillipi. Phil. 4:6 that ‘be anxious for nothing… And in v19 where he said “my God shall supply ALL YOUR NEEDS according to His riches in glory… ~ Don’t forget He fed 5000 people, but only when they sought Him first. Remember He said we are joint heirs of the Father, and as such if He cannot be bound by ‘’baseless’’ Economic concepts, then, same should apply to us as Christians. However, it’s ‘First things first’. One can’t go all the way to Z without starting from A. Some people pursue wealth, success, promotion etc. and end up getting disappointed. It’s simply because they didn’t put first things first, which of course, is Christ. I came across a quote once, that ‘ a life without Christ is full of Crisis.’ Aamir Khan ‘’Rancho’’ of the 2009 hit Indian movie ‘3 idiots’ said ‘’Pursue excellence and success will follow…’’ but I will like to modify it by saying, ‘’Pursue Christ, and everything will follow, even excellence and success. Shalom, Jesus’ kid. © 2015 Tobbylobba |
