In The Forest She DwellsA Poem by tOrI77In the forest she dwells. She sits atop a pine tree, Whispers in the whistling wind, And laughs in the pouring rain, Her song is only audible Deep beneath the surface of the pind. Her fierce emerald hair blends in with the trees. She chats with the robin, She runs with the doe, her bound feet silently Tapping The earth. Her bright eyes glisten in the darkness. You can only hear her if you listen carefully. She's small, yet powerful. With one touch of a finger, she can burn down the wood; With one word she can raise up new trees. Flowers will bloom with her passing by. You can only see her for a short second And she bolts off without a trace. Few have heard of her, no human has spoken to with her. She skips through the unknown streets of the forest, And she has the largest home on earth. She's the boss of the forest, the mighty princess. And alone she rules the animals and plants with just and love. She feeds herself sweet grapefruit in the summer And eats the holly berries in the winter. Her small pointed ears can hear for miles, Mysterious eyes can see for years. And her spirit lingers as her trees are destroyed, And her own precious flowers are picked and pulled. Her favortie new fawn is shot down, Yet she forgives and brings up new life Each year. © 2010 tOrI77 |
