Eight MilesA Story by tOrI77something i wrote for English class.
A free summer moment occurs in the hot West Virginia sun in a peacuful river eight miles down a mountain. She's sitting on a huge rock, right in the middle of the river. Lush green plants and flickering dragonflies surround her rock, and a family of deer fly by on the banks. All is still, that is, until she dives right in the river, glimmering fish and seaweed swarming all around her. She feels so excited to be in the cool, fresh water, and she swims only fater. The freezing water chills her body all so suddenly, since the hot sun beams down right on the empty rock. As she swims back to the rock, she sees the sand between her toes, and a strand or two of seaweed in her hair. She watches the sand in the water settle and sees the fish swim about their business, casting bubbles in the water and darting frantically in the water. She warms up in the sun on her rock. A dragonfly lands on her arm, and quickly flies away. She looks around the silently busy world, and dives right back into the streaming river, eight miles down a mountain in West Virginia.
