Not A Poem

A Poem by Tyler.mallett

I live for the moments like this.
The moments that tell me you might still show interest. The moments that make you blush, and make me smile. I'd kill to see it everyday. Show me how happy you can be. Show me how your eyelashes look when you bat your eyes. Show me the rosy red cheeks when you giggle and try to look away. I love when you're happy with yourself. Happy with me.

Let's let the moment sink in. I could go on for days about how good my lips feel on your cheek, but your lips look more inviting. I can't even imagine. I'll probably never know. Show me the interest. Show me that we can be more. Because I don't mind how much of a trainwreck you think you are. I don't mind how much everything seems to be crumbling down. You still stand, more beautiful than ever, regardless of what you've done or what you're going through. And I see you. The real you. I see your strength and courage to face the fire.

That's what makes you worth it. That's what makes you seem real, and yet, too far to reach sometimes. I want to reach you. I don't know how to get there. i don't know how to show my affection without being overwhelming. A burden. So I'll sit here and write out how I'm feeling while I wait for your reply. Not a poem. Not a song. Not a short story. Nothing that could be published. Nothing easy to share. Just my thoughts and how much I want you in my life. How much I want you to know I care. I do care.

I think too much. I shouldn't, but I can't help it. I think about whether or not I'm in your mind. And if so, in what way? Do you imagine kissing me on the lips? Do you go through pictures of me? Do you lay in bed and write your thoughts down on paper? Not poems. Not short stories. Nothing that could be published. Nothing easy to share. Just your thoughts and how much you want me in your life. How much you want me to know you care. Do you care?

I live for the moments like this.
The moments that tell me you might still show interest. The moments that make you blush, and make me smile. I'd kill to see it everyday. Show me how happy you can be. Show me how your eyelashes look when you bat your eyes. Show me the rosy red cheeks when you giggle and try to look away. I love when you're happy with yourself. Happy with me.

Let's stay happy. I like it way more than when we're both depressed. I like being able to see you smile every once in awhile. Let's stay happy. Happy with yourself. Happy with me. Happy with anything. Is there anything in the whole damn world that could take us there?
