A Soldier's StarA Poem by TksA Soldier's Star Letting my boot polish dry Oh..it's been a long day, my love.. My stubble has grown As sharply as my senses have dulled With tiredness Hearing the echoes of soldiers Knowing my place amongst them I cannot help however My heart is not with my nation My heart is with you Pin my badges on my chest Tell my mother I've done my best Dry your tears gently, my sister Never will I again pester Oh hey, oh hey oh hey oh hey Wah ah! Helmets dropping Souls dancing On the battlefield As the worms and maggots come out Creatures of the night, ready to devour Skin to bone Bone to naught I don't want this to ever be taught My love..I am sorry.. Why is your picture becoming red..? Don't slip from my hands... A last glimpse of us laughing at the beach..carefree.. As the chatter of gunfire slowly dies around me.. I feel your lips. And I smile.
