The Fools and the Sages

The Fools and the Sages

A Poem by Tkess

I have heard the old men say,

“One by one we drop away

Like faucets dripping into the basin

Though silent is our fall from grace”

I have heard the young men say,

“We have all the time still before us

What bother of us, is this today,

For you see time is just a hobby

And my plans are made in evening's folly”

I have listened to the foolish prophet

I have heard from the youthful sage

When you hear them, though, be weary

Follow your heart is what they preach

Never mind the fools and sages

And go as far as your mind will reach
