Beyond Here Lies Nothing

Beyond Here Lies Nothing

A Poem by Tkess

As we swallow the night the morning rises stung and stained,

Desire is a storm I sing, but the notes have all fell flat

Without a road to walk upon I shall divide the air

Where the neon candles dance and sway,

With smoke and mirrors and distant thoughts

The rainbowed city lights streak these black waters

Curly-haired clouds obscure the stars as we drink in the moon

The city glows like molten embers forgotten by the dawn

As I watch thunderclouds move across an amaranthine sky

The night exhales steel exhaust as we inhale the light,

The air, the morning rising through the concrete catacombs

As we snake through the labyrinth of the day

Our shadows retreat to the darkness of the alleys,

Under the safe embrace of our homes
