Just don't play C5, Not Tonight

Just don't play C5, Not Tonight

A Poem by Tkess

Mascara darkened eyes

Through the flickering fluorescent lights

Clouds paint the endless black sky

The moon hangs like a nightwatchman

Curious of your intentions

As I hang like that necklace between your breasts

Just a reminder of a past, long gone

I remember that song that you said was ours

It carries a new meaning now

As the sweet notes now burn a sour chorus

There's a blue drizzle down the thin sheet glass storefront

As my memories collect like the puddles outside

The buildings tumble like Stygian dominoes

As the streets accumulate the fables of a thousand lost words

Burned black like the asphalt beneath our feet

The sun creeps up on me before I realize

I've let my mind wonder a bit too far

I hope it comes back before daybreak

At least allow me a few hours of sleep

This has a film noir feel to me--I mean that as a compliment--so I hope you take it as such--beautiful word painting--

Ah yes the thoughts we think when we go to bed and can't sleep, (that is what it is right?) I've written many pieces as a result of sleeplessness and mind wanderings myself. Sometimes turn out to be the best I write. Good job with this piece.
