The god Of Fifth AvenueA Poem by TkessThe morning screamed like a Siren So loud it drowned out all other audible queues Like everyone's voice turned into Peanuts' parents Muffled and diluted The H-bomb of my life Erupted from her mouth
The air and walls shook And nothing's lining up Like maybe I drank too much Took in too much of this evening
Friends becoming meaningless Words fall black like Newspaper falling from irrupted fire
And there's no turning back No moving forward; just remain, In this air of uncertainty
Journey of a lifetime Just in the daytime As I sink into the night
Discarded cigarettes like Text messages from drunken marauders Looking for a cheap score
But maybe this music soothes these savage beasts Or maybe the bar band can only play The Stones Watered down and diluted
I howl at the street dogs, but They just whimper and coward Into the shadows of the avenues
And my name's a profanity To the bums in the alleyway As god himself tells them Not to use it in vain © 2011 Tkess |
