Fake Plastic Life

Fake Plastic Life

A Poem by Tkess

She uses her plastic green watering can

To water her fake green shrubbery

With little plastic gnomes

She is the queen of her fake little world

She puts on her plastic eyelashes

Makes sure her hair looks just right

She’s just trying to make her outside

Match her inside

Fake

She doesn’t see her life’s sputtering out

She doesn’t feel the world falling down

She looks like the real thing

She feels like the real thing, but

There’s nothing real about her

Fake plastic life

She lives with a paper man

Candy heart, button eyes

Made to feel what’s in his head

Nothing

Their house looks like everyone else’s

On a street that looks like everyone else’s

With thoughts just like everyone else

Fake plastic life with

Fake plastic love

Fake plastic kids with

Fake plastic hearts
