An Evening StrollA Poem by TkessI throw shadows at passersby As a hard rain falls With weathered veins My pessimism fills no cup Leaves fall, the multicolored foliage Fools us all; Before the white death Takes up residence To strangle us with its Wicked ways The leaves drift Like my mind Like the ground beneath our feet Like our precious time A spider spins his magic As we all spin through space On this big blue rock My words are too heavy To carry any distance So I keep them to myself In my little hiding place My eyes are far too tired As I drag them behind They have seen too much For an evening Or a moment Or a life
