Twilight

Twilight

A Chapter by Tkess

The way the light hits this town

The shadows look like skeletons

All the weeds look like dead rats that couldn’t quite

Make it through the cracks in the sidewalk

It all went down a bit too heavy

It all went down a bit too fast

Handcuffed to the end of the line

Thrown through life’s little parade

Naked and screaming

It’s not a gunshot in the distance, but

Cold hard facts bursting through the night
