Burning in Water, As I Drown in the FlamesA Poem by TkessLate nights and whiskey are strange bedfellows.
Through waterborn erosion Blood pools my heart Down bleach ruined drains
And I sink
Like weathered amethyst Like Hemlock in the rain My mind is never empty; It is full of electrified regret Mammoth dreams Fluid filled illusions
And I sink
Into the dark abyss of Your eyes, Your callused heart Oh! Flower of flesh
And I sink
Sensuous awakenings Moth covered; anesthetized Falling ever so slowly The scented twilight The burning dawn Poisonous tones
And I sink
Violent red mornings Tarp covered nights And the gods danced The wounds scabbed over And the gods sighed With bastardized guilt And the gods died In the mind of the mortals In the mind of this mortal
And I sink
And the Earth spirals out of control And the gravity draws you in But as the sun warms the skin And I sit perfectly still
