History Lesson

History Lesson

A Poem by Tkess

The sky cracks open

Pillars falling to the earth

The conquers and the conquered

Sowed with salt

Purify the destroyed

They take away

And take away

No addition

The sirens call

From the miasma

Harbinger of a forgotten lore

No gods left to believe in

No worlds left to explore

Remember the words that are written

Remember what the old men say

Those who forget the past

Won’t live to see another day
