The Descent of Man

The Descent of Man

A Poem by Tkess
"

Do they only stand By ignorance, is that their happy state, The proof of their obedience and their faith? John Milton - Paradise Lost

"

Maligned, the space between us

Askew, words fall from forked tongues

Days descend like the thoughts of man

Mismatched parts no longer connect

Clash, the animal within

Spirit broken, on bended knees

Eyes gaze toward dissected skies

Idolize the abandoned potentate of delusion

Rise from the ashes,

The phoenix ascends from abated flames

Sanctimonious smiles peer towards

Heaven’s eyes,

Assassination of reason

Incessant ramblings, righteous lies

The coup d'état of logic

Certitude is the hallmark

Of the unintelligent

Those afraid to walk with

Their minds open, close

Themselves off from the truth

The slate has been wiped clean

The pages unwritten

These words have been abducted

Like the minds of the foolish

Carried off to wash anew

Generation by generation history repeats OUR selves...
and we continue.

Love this write, as I feel we are on a meeting with the great gamma ray burst that will destroy us all, ignorant and intelligent alike.

like the use of Milton and Paradise Lost..the acceptance of the obedience as the happy state...ignorance the choice...
"Spirit broken, on bended knees

Eyes gaze toward dissected skies

Idolize the abandoned potentate of delusion"

and then the challenge to ....

"Rise from the ashes,

The phoenix ascends from abated flames "

well penned.
