You know and I knowA Poem by Tkess
You know and I know
These wars are fought for the fat cats As the dogs are kicked around like strays Big business thrives as mom and pop Are thrown naked in the streets
You know and I know
Wall Street addicts run amok With dollar sign bags As we sit next to dried out fields Hoping for rain
You know and I know
God may be in their words But the devil is in the details As children starve, but Their bellies full with empty promises
You know and I know
There ain’t no white horses here All the heroes have fled There is nothing left, but The decaying city of living dead
You know and I know
Our screams could fill this room And it would make no difference at all But we will try anyway At least we try
You know and I know
Life is but a ride with ups, downs, peaks, valleys We watch as old men squander their time Why is it always the great ones Who must exit far too soon?
You know and I know
This ol’ world is just a mirage With one guy running the show He sits in a box and pulls the levers He even has one for the sun and moon
You know and I know
It’s about time the world Catches up with what
