Memories Fade Like the Last Glimpse of Twilight

Memories Fade Like the Last Glimpse of Twilight

A Poem by Tkess

I pretend to sleep to suppress

The man that I am not

Through whiskey eyes

I attempt to reason with

White knights and Cimmerian tides

The spirits cry

A moratorium was announced

Through thin lips and

Desperate eyes

What lies within truth

What lies? Apart from fact

Tears flow from eyes

Malevolent cries

Punctuating silence

Screams from deep inside

The space forever diminishing

Relentless are the tides

Memories fade like

The last glimpse of twilight

Thoughts flicker mind aches

Apathy drips like dew on branch

Wear that on your sleeve

Or badge on chest

Marked forever exposed

Unable to detach

This is one of my favourite pieces of yours....No matter what we do to run away...wear the pain deep inside, or on the outside, some scars will always remain. Unable to Detach....you said some very true lines in this piece. The scars of the soul can only be spoken to by deep emotion filled words.
