The Man Who Wasn’t ThereA Poem by TkessI wrote this with The Man Who Sold The World by David Bowie & the poem Antigonish by Hughes Mearns in mind. It's my criticism of the way society views the "invisibles," the homeless, the elderly, etc.
I passed him upon the stairs The man who wasn’t there I passed him again today He never seems to go away
I wish he would tell me his name He just stares into the dust and dirt Never able to love nor hurt This man who wasn’t there
Once upon a time he was A lover and a fighter among The starry eyed and headstrong Now he lays invisible amid The abstract and the lucid
Love is a tricky thing It will play with your mind Your heart, your soul It has done its best to abscind The man who wasn’t there
But like the best of lovers will divide These feelings will subside But upon these stairs will reside The man who wasn’t there © 2011 TkessReviews
