A Comedy of Errors

A Comedy of Errors

A Poem by Tkess
"

Life is a comedy, but I see that you're not laughing. Well, did you ever stop to think; maybe the joke is on you.

"

The horizon engulfs the sun

Shadows contort, move

Against twilight’s new beginning

The sky extends a hand

Nothing up my sleeve

Except maybe an ace

Disillusioned

A dream within a dream

This frail reality

What is true; what is imaginary

Who are we to decide?

Poe exacerbated

The stars laugh

Mock you from afar

Such audacity

You milk the experience

Like a cow’s utter

Or, a baby at the teat

Have you had your fill?

Life is a comedy

But, you’re not laughing

Maybe the joke is on you?

Nicely done. Lots of subtle wordplay and allusion. That last bit is the best.

I know that when I'm not laughing,
the joke is certainly on ME.

Cheers!
