The Days Ran Away From Me

The Days Ran Away From Me

A Poem by Tkess

The days ran away from me

Like wild horses through the fields

The moon hangs in the distance

Whispers words of encouragement

My confidante

Cold air fills the lungs

Apathy, intolerance

This is the season of our discontent

Or is it?

Mind caged shut

Lock and key

Heart bought and sold

Slave to the world

You don’t need it

Where you are going, did you

Ever have really it at all?

Unspoken words drift

The ashes from a reticent fire

It is easier not to speak

Vulnerability exacerbated

Where would I go?

When the sun cowards away,

Behind the trees

To sleep among the lonely

He speaks only

In clips and phrases

Of times long past

Memories consign to Oblivion

Her arms opened wide

Embracing a new dawn
