The Devil Sings at Night

The Devil Sings at Night

A Poem by Tkess

A faint impression of cold
wonders through the night,
though a summer wind still shakes
those darling buds of May.

It's just in the summer that the angels sing
They dance and play and spread their wings
Then leave us like an Iris bloom
as the first chill of winter looms.

Scattered thoughts fall.
Leaves of another forgotten day,
lay beneath a windowsill
littering the emerald landscape.

The sun has fallen
And the stars shine so bright
And the world is still and solemn
It's the devil that sings at night
