The Night Has A Thousand Eyes

The Night Has A Thousand Eyes

A Poem by Tkess

Maybe I need to work less, sleep more.

Or maybe a tick has found his way to my groin

Giving me Lyme's disease.

Sunglasses play a part

In darkening the question;

Of allowing us to hide in plain sight.

Orange lights burning like sunspots

Instigating weird riots in my head.

While in the ink beyond,

A chorus of coyotes howled

Like traffic at rush hour.

Odd confessions from evenings beyond

Fall away like ashes from a cigarette.

The night feathers down on us

Until our faces disappear.

with each stanza you give a new description of fatigue and loss, like the entire poem was written just to evaporate.
the thid and and fourth portray sitting and trying to pin down a memory while looking past the distracting streetlights and into the night, where coyotes yelp.
*ashe the double syllable of ashes stutters the line...only my opinion. if it was intentional than sucessfully done.
interested in reading more. a wonderful poem.
thank you tkess

Each stanza is very interesting in it's own way. I like the way you describe things and some of the ideas here,

Makes me want a smoke
