My Duel with a Dragon

My Duel with a Dragon

A Poem by TisWit

With a roar, the towering beast turns to the sky and,

with the blue green flame of searing death,

reaches to the nightly heavens turned to temporary day.

The earth quivers beneath my steadfast feet as

Excalibur coils to strike from one hand and

the Shield of Achilles stands to defend.

The Sandals of Apollo grant my feet speed,

the Spartan helmet channels the great warriors to my aid,

the Gauntlet of Atlas increase my strength tenfold,

the Breastplate of Righteousness protects my heart from mortal wounds.

The dragon lands and puffs smoke from it's nostrils,

lifts a gigantic leg,

and with a single stomp,

squishes me into the ground.
