The Battle

The Battle

A Poem by T. Hart

Doom, doom!
A mighty blast strikes their foes,
A cautious eye watches close.
A wistful attack,
From front to back,
An order to retreat.

Hope, hope!
The day is not yet gone!
Battle cries on either side,
The swords of woe are drawn.
The war does now begin.

Fight, fight!
A clash of screeching metal,
Stops both armies in their tracks.
Blood lust in hearts and souls,
Dares never to come back.

For what they saw on that battlefield,
Was a brother to their arms,
a likeness to their kind.
Though they did not see at first,
How hatred can be truly blind.
