Broken Butterfly

Broken Butterfly

A Poem by Owl
"

This is just a little something I do in my spare time, when I'm not being satirical and mean. It's one of several songs I've written for my band, Memento. Relax, I haven't heard of us either.

"
Evil days are coming,
Will darken up the sky;
Tainted like a window,
Like a broken butterfly.

Sands of time are spilling,
As though they wish to die;
Time will take the willing,
Like a broken butterfly.

What happens to the brave?
When there's no one's left to save,
When everyone's a slave,
From the cradle to the grave.

What happens to the free?
When time tolls savagely,
When sons of liberty,
Serve men who force decree.

Good times turn to bad,
The worst we've ever had;
But memories will last,
Flashback from the past.

Fine art fades to dust,
Sculptures turn to rust;
But beauty will remain,
Like a rainbow after rain.

Like a broken butterfly,
Like the broken butterfly.

But there lives some of us.
Who will fight if we must;
And we'll do what we want,
Live like ghosts free to haunt.

And we'll be anyone,
And we'll live just for fun;
And we'll laugh in their face,
At the whole human race.

And we'll die for our cause,
We'll go out to applause;
And we'll shine in their eye,
Like a broken butterfly.

And we'll live free from sin,
Be like dust in the wind;
Don't you see who we are?
We're the butterfly.

The broken butterfly.

Now don't ever weep and moan,
'Cause no one weeps with you;
But laugh when you're alone,
And the world laughs with you too.

Things can only get better,
Don't ever question why;
It's like a feel-good movie,
Or a broken butterfly.

Author's Note

Owl
Alright, take this with a pinch of salt. I'm nowhere near as serious as this makes me out to be. I just haven't written very much in a while and was starting to feel paranoid and inadequate. In essence, this is nothing more than a confidence-booster; the writer's equivalent of buying a Lamborghini to sooth a midlife-crisis.

I do feel better, though.

Anyway, I will be uploading more hilarious antics from your favourite angry young men soon enough.

Did I ever mention that I think you're a grouchy ol' genius? Well I have left the grouchy bit off, but as it were...

Ya know this is awesome. It's also interesting, and it flows well. I'd happily listen to this in song form, it would be interesting to see what kind of beat follows with it. I'm glad to finally see something from you, lazy a*s.
