Ashes Age, I Saw A Blade

Ashes Age, I Saw A Blade

A Poem by Owl
"

I finished reading The Dark Tower Volume III: The Waste Lands last night, and I was blown away. Quite possibly my favourite ever book. Hail to the King, baby. Anyway, there's a character who is obsessed with riddles. And this is what he made me do.

"

Riddle Me This.

What is sharp, but all too soft?
Free to grow, yet never lost?
Forged from steel, alive in grass,
What can be broken, but cannot last?

A tool of men, or a way to see?
The tense of which, comes eventually.
Nothing more than mere memory?
Or just another scare movie?

A term for you, a term for me?
Applies to both, subjectively?
An eye for an eye, is but a clue,
But then again, it's also true.

What is but a length of time?
What shapes the flow of cheese and wine?
Those in possession, know the truth,
Those without, have their youth.

See the remains of what once was?
The consequence of forgotten laws?
The loyal mourners of a funeral pyre,
All that's left, after the fire.

Author's Note

Owl
Each stanza has a different answer, by the way.

The first one I made up last night, but the rest I actually just sat here and thought of. I hope you have fun with these.

Remember, riddles are all about misdirection. If you're thinking too much, you've missed the point. The simplest answer is usually the right one.

I'm puzzled.
Is one of them blindness?
I sound so stupid.
