YOU

YOU

A Poem by Evelynne Tionge

I try to make it through my life
Yet in my way there is you
Shaking the shackles now turned rife
You drag me down thats all you do
My words to you always cut no ice
I but want to be free and save my soul
From the living you constantly claim is my choice

I try to make you see my side
Yet your eyes choose to look right through
Into the principles i have failed to abide
You continously cut my soul into two
Forcing me to swim against the tide
You want me to be you and will not stop till i do

In the sounds of midnight whispers
There is your voice taunting me out of sanity
Summoning the most grosteque shadows as helpers
Pressing hard against me to capture all my serenity
Humming a requiem which my senses pilfers
Bringing all sense of beauty into calamity

You take me to the place where veins interlock
And kick me to my knees to learn how to pray
I am still here in my mold behind the doors you lock
Waiting for you to see my path from which i can not stray
Attempting to bear grapes for your wine though i'm an oak
