To You

I didn't realize how much I would miss you after we parted ways. 

Even though I knew you were going to leave for a while, 

it hit me the hardest when I tried to replace you.

It surprises me how much I feel for you still. 

We had such a good connection, you got me,

you helped me though so much, you accepted all of me.

At times I felt embarrassed or awkward sharing deep matters about myself.

However, you validated everything I shared with you. 

You carried acceptance and confidence for me until I was able to myself. 

I looked up to you, saw myself in you. 

You gave me hope that someone like us could do great things,

as well as not just accept but celebrate the unique selves we are. 

When you left, I lost such a supportive structure in my life. 

I wish I could let you know how much you mean to me,

even now, although we aren't in each other's lives anymore.

When I last saw you,

It wasn't certain what you were going to be doing.

You also said that you would miss me,

I didn't say it back because I got nervous.

Recently I found out your status,

and I felt an overwhelming feeling of warmth for you. 

You made it, you did everything you said you would,

and I'm grateful to have been a part of your journey. 

If we were to meet again,

I would let you know that I miss you too,

And I am so proud of you.
