Pandora

Pandora

A Poem by Tina Kline

Pandora wandered out to the gardens

Needing desperately to breathe of the fresh air

The noise from the sea front drifted to her

The air was salty with sea spindrift

She didn't want to think of him in the gallows

Her love who was her only hope of a happy future

Her love for him was powerful and exaggerated

So overwhelming that sometimes it felt even inhuman

But it didn't matter to her

She knew her own heart

Yesterday she was the happiest woman alive

Today her heart was trapped in a darker place

It felt like someone had stabbed it with a harpoon

Now she was bitter and resentful most times

Other times she was so like an ugly harpy

But she missed him so terribly

She worried he would never be released

Thus the darkness became like suicide

For when the King had him killed

She would choose death to be by his side

How bittersweet. To die for love. A romantic tragedy. Excellent job on this and use of the words.
