The TurningA Chapter by Tina KlineAn ANN THE VAMPIRE story.Ann stood beside Tyler's bed looking down at him where he sat cross-legged on it looking up at her. They were both smiling at each other. This was the day both Tyler and Justin would become vampires. Eddie stood in Tyler's open bedroom door watching them both, a serious look on his face. “Today is the day.” Ann said gently. “We've been waiting for this moment for 12 years.” “Yes mom. I want this. I'm now 18 and I want my turning to be my birthday celebration.” “And it will be Tyler. It will be. Are you ready?” “Yes.” Justin came and stood beside Eddie, both of them watching now. Eddie put his arm around Justin's shoulders. “Your turn comes next.” Eddie said softly to him. “I'm ready. I want to be a vampire.” “And you will be. Just like your brother.” Justin smiled. “I can't wait.” Ann sat down on Tyler's bed. “This is the moment son. Lie back.” With a sudden serious look Tyler stretched out on his back on the bed. Eddie tightened his arm around Justin's shoulder. “Let's leave them. We don't need to watch this nor should we.” “Okay.” As they turned to leave Eddie quietly shut the door. He and Justin went into the living room and sat down on the couch to wait. “I love you Tyler” Ann said leaning over him. She gently brushed several strands of hair off his forehead. “I love you too mom. I wish dad had never murdered you. I hate him. I don't think of him as my dad.” Tyler's expression became one of anger. Ann kissed him on his forehead. “Don't think of him. He doesn't exist in our lives anymore.” She leaned in closer. Tyler put one hand on her upper arm. “I'm ready mom.” “Relax.” Ann put her face to his neck and sank her fangs into his throat. Tyler stiffened for a second then relaxed. A sigh escaped him. Ann started drinking his blood. Tyler closed his eyes, relaxing his arms at his sides. Ann drank and drank. Tyler's skin quickly turned pale, then went shockingly white, then became a sickly greyish shade. His lips and the rims around his eyes turned slightly blue. His heart grew weak and started to flutter in distress. Ann removed her fangs and quickly bit deeply into her wrist. Glancing down at Tyler she could easily tell he was near death. His eyes were closed, his breathing was labored and shallow and purple smudges had appeared beneath his eyes. It was hard for her to see her son so close to death. Ann put her bleeding wrist to her son's open mouth. Her blood dripped into it. At first there was no movement from Tyler. He lay there sickly greyish and unmoving. Ann couldn't help feel a moment or two of alarm. Then suddenly he swallowed the blood that had ran down his throat. He gasped and coughed a couple times. Then he started drinking Ann's blood. Tyler drank and drank. His color started returning right away. Soon enough he was looking healthy again. Once he had drank enough of Ann's blood he seemed back to his usual self. When Ann knew he had drank enough for what they were trying to accomplish she pulled her wrist free. He struggled a moment, not wanting to stop drinking her blood. “Sleep now son. When you wake you will be a vampire.” Tyler stared up at her from where he was still lying on the bed. “Okay mom. I love you.” His voice was weak and rather husky sounding. “I love you son.” She wiped the blood from around his mouth with her fingers. “I will be watching over you.” He nodded then was asleep. Ann rose from the bed and with one last look down at Tyler she left the room. It was time to turn Justin. As soon as Ann entered the living room both Justin and Eddie stood. “Are you ready Justin?” Ann asked him. “I am.” Justin answered. “Let's go to your room.” Ann said. She headed to his room, Justin and Eddie right behind her. She stood beside Justin's bed. Justin sat down on it. “It's time to do this.” said Ann. Eddie returned to the living room. She performed the same routine on Justin that she had with Tyler. Once Justin had enough of her blood and was asleep Ann went and sat beside Eddie where he was waiting for her on the living room's couch. “It's done.” She said to him. “It's what they've been waiting for. To reach the age of 18 and become vampires. We'll be a real vampire clan now.” “Yes. I have been waiting for this too. We all have.” She curled up against him “Tyler and Justin will sleep until an hour or so after dark. We need to be there when they wake. They'll need fresh human blood.” She looked at him with a meaningful expression. “I understand. We'll need live meals here waiting for them.” “Yes. The question is; Get them now or after dark later?” “Well...” “I think now. We'll keep them locked up in the basement.” Ann stated. “Okay. Let's go.” “Only one of us can do this. Someone needs to stay here to protect the boys. They're very vulnerable right now.” “I'll go sweetie. You watch over Tyler and Justin.” “Thank you Eddie. I love you.” Ann got up on her knees and gave Eddie a tight hug and kiss. “I love you too Ann.” he returned the embrace and kiss with enthusiasm. Eddie made two trips and soon had two humans locked in the basement. There was no way they would be escaping. Tyler woke first with a startled shout. He was very pale, his freckles stood out starkly on his pale cheeks. His eyes were crimson and he had fangs. “Tyler! My sweetie!” Ann greeted him. “Mom! I'm so thirsty!” he moaned, his body in acute agony with its need for blood. Eddie brought in the first human who was obviously in some sort of daze and unable to struggle. Tyler eagerly fastened his fangs into her neck and started feasting, the first blood meal of his new vampire life. He drained her to death. While Tyler was feasting Justin woke. Eddie took to him his human. Justin eagerly feasted on his victim. He drained his victim to death. Neither Tyler nor Justin felt guilt or remorse over what they had done. Once they were finished they both looked vibrant and so much more alive than they had as humans. Eddie disposed of the corpses. While he did so Ann led both boys to the living room and sat them down on the couch. “So, how do you feel?” Ann asked them both. “I feel wonderful!” Tyler said. “I feel wonderful too.” Justin told her. “I'm so pleased. You both look wonderful. You both make handsome vampires.” Ann told them. “Remember the things you read and that we also talked about. The changes that you will be experiencing the next few days.” “I remember.” They both said. “Good.” Ann smiled at them both. Eddie returned at that moment. “Hey guys. Welcome to the world of vampires.” Both boys looked up at him with great big happy smiles on their very pale faces, exposing their upper and lower fangs. “Welcome to the vampire world. Welcome to all of us to our brand new vampire clan.” Ann said, so very happy.
