Addictions

Addictions

A Poem by Tina Kline
"

This isn't personal, it's not about me.

"
Helplessly I struggle
                   with my addictions
The drugs
       that course through my veins
Soothe the torment
Ease the pain
       As I shake
Unable to be still
I am polluted
      with toxins
As I become empty and pure
Lighter than air
I sail away
       on a shaft of light
I laugh in strange delight
As I fade from view
Starved into nothing
Nothingness I become

Many types of additions. Easy to need. Hard to break away from. I like the direct and honest words in the poem. A strong ending to a outstanding poem.

Addictions steal the person away, as if taking their soul, and replaces their personality with a strangers. They become the addiction and that becomes the soul focus of their life. An awesome poem.

A lot of pain in these words. Addictions are very painful to go through, sometimes the suffer doesn't survive the ordeal.

A great poem describing the pain and torment of addictions. They can destroy a person or torment them for a life time. An excellent write, for sure.
