When Living Hurts

When Living Hurts

A Poem by Tina Kline

When living hurts oh so very bad
When breathing causes a scorching pain
It burns and boils away inside
That's when living becomes an act in vain

The darkness slowly invades
Causing the heart to wither away
Suicide rears up its ugly head
Until death just naturally seems the way

Who can endure a broken heart
Who can endure the hurt of betrayal
The weight of it crushes the desire to live
Suicide takes over your self control

Wrist cutting, pills or a bullet to the head
Any one of these will end the pain
Why live? I can't live! Why live?
It's just too much, it's just all so insane

When living hurts more than death
When the darkness has become a way to live
When just breathing hurts like hell
Self-death is all that's left to give

A poem that open the doors to many questions. Life is never so bad. Death is peace. Death is the end. No more opportunity for love/travel and opportunity to save another. The poem is direct and honest. There are too many roads to choose in a life. A strong poem that open the doors to a good conversation.

You wouldn't think life would hurt, but there are times when death seems better.

That awful dark painful journey to suicide is expressed powerfully here. One can only hope someone will hear the cry for help before its too late. An awesome poem!

A very painful but realistic poem. Life can sometimes hurt to the point that death seems the answer. Tragically for some it is. Very well written poem I was totally glad to have had the chance to read.

I feel the deep hurt in this one. Its a struggle to get through this sort of pain but a fight well worth it. There is always hope and a chance for happiness as long as one is alive. A very powerful and well written poem. I enjoyed reading this.

I can feel this poem
I understand exactly how this feels
Betrayal is a b***h
But they win if we give in
Better days lie ahead
What if our better day was just 2 days
away from when our life
ended by our own hand?
