Equine Nightmares

Equine Nightmares

A Poem by Tina Kline
"

Written for the Creative Writing Group. Words used are: flames, ignite, inferno, sizzling, fierce, sanguine, volcanic, temperamental, searing, consuming.

"

Standing in fiery and swirling flames
A beast so dark light from him bleeds
Within his stark eyes dark madness ignites
On the world's pain he hungrily feeds

He raises on his hind legs in this hellish inferno
His hooves cut at the molten atmosphere
Sizzling red sparks dance in his long mane
Around him a heated wind screams and roars

His horn the color of red is pointed and fierce
His teeth are sharp, white and starving
His sanguine appetite makes him a creature to fear
He is not timid in taking what he is needing

Unfurling his wings he rises from this volcanic pit
His voice roars death all across the landscape
Terror fills those who know his temperamental desires
They know his heart and soul are overflowing with hate

Searing across the sunset sky he arrives to kill
Ripping and tearing the flesh of his screaming victims
Consuming their warm bloody flesh he purrs with satisfaction
Only temporarily satisfied he'll soon be out hunting again

What a darkly moving, near screaming look into the haunted place of the mind... You drive the words in deep, and the heart feels an unease. Powerful!

Excellent us of the words, and such an awsesome poem. Scary, and keeps the reader on their toes wondering what was going to happen next.
