Funeral VampireA Poem by Tina KlineA collaboration with Ghost. In a crypt
deep in an abandoned graveyard she sleeps in a stone coffin as darkness descends as evening bird song grows loud she stirs, waking with the rising moon the sharp cry of a coyote's bark the sky overhead becomes dark blue a chill breeze rises rattling the tree limbs the stars begin to sparkle as the sky turns a midnight shade the funeral vampire must rise crimson need burns deep within she leaves behind her hollow tomb climbs high into the cool night sky soaring above the ground she seeks prey the moon glows upon her frost white skin her eyes cold and dead to the beauty of light below a dead man is buried and she descends she stares at the living blood below mourners who have come to say goodbye sweeping down from the sky she lands near a tree none of those gathered notice death lurking near she picks her meal and calls to him with her mind he hears her summons and he can't resist as the dead is lowered he turns and slips away the vampire meets him, pulling him into deeper shadows under her spell he doesn't realize he's about to die when he sees her fanged smile its too late for him she pulls him into a steel embrace there is no hope of escape her long sharp fangs pierce his warm flesh she siphons his crimson bleeding his veins bone dry his beating heart is silenced as death eats his soul his body crumbles to the ground at the Funeral Vampire's feet a smile lingers upon her blood stained
face, her eyes shine with delight his warm blood has soothed her cold undead flesh and she ascends to the night sky a new funeral will dawn for her prey and this fate will bloom ever again each night she escapes her cold tomb to drain our life blood as we mourn the descending dead. © 2011 Tina KlineAuthor's Note
