Sunset Encounter

Sunset Encounter

A Poem by Tina Kline

For the Creative Writing group. 5/1 words: extrinsic, enticing, euphoric, delirious, velvet, sinful.

"

in the sunset's euphoric fiery glow
the two wolves stalked the desert sands
hunger set them forth that evening
the warm desert air was like velvet
as it swept across the dried landscape
the two wolves breathed in the air
scenting for possible prey
they picked up something enticing
flowing toward them in seductive curls
they pointed their noses in its direction
and in an easy lope they went to investigate
the scent grew powerful
creating a delirious craving in them
they kept on going across the undulating sands
until what they sought came into sight
something very strange
something not at all extrinsic to their world
it created a fearful response in them
this very human and frightening sight
they backed off whining in concern
then they turned and raced away
what the two wolves saw was sinful to them
even if this they didn't understand

This was really nicely done, Tina. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your words. The imagery is wonderful and the poem flows beautifully. I think using wolves as the central players is an excellent idea - to me at least, wolves are wise and instinctive. The first line is a joy! Well done!

Good use of those words. It seems these two found a very dangerous human filled place and its a good thing they turned and fled! I really enjoyed your poem.
