Blood HuntressA Poem by Tina KlineMy curvy body moves as I dance the Darocho in the heated nights in Veracruz From the tropical forest I hear the cries of the green cheeked Amazon parrot I hear the stealthy movements of the Jaguar and Ocelot I feel one with them skillful predators on the hunt I move about the population of dark skinned and dark eyed people I am a foreigner and I stand out exotic and seductive I easily lure my prey to me during the Carnival this festival that brings so many humans together they willingly surrender to my sweet promises of intense ecstasy I drain them letting no red droplets touch the earth they die in rapture hardly hearing the soft calls of nearby cattle and goats The fertile soil of Veracruz welcomes the bodies of the dead and the abundant rainfall washes away the evidence of my vampire kills
