Latin American VampireA Poem by Tina Kline I was lost in
Lost and desperately hungry The moon hung low Heavy and blood red In the Latin American night air Vampire bats Hovered - fluttered Everywhere I heard night insects Rustle their wings Rustle their legs Whispering my name Then loudly proclaim The huntress was near My ivory fangs Promised passion or An ending of life’s pain I prowled I lurked I lingered In the night lit streets Of Where men and women Willingly fell into my embrace Surrendering themselves to me To my passion of blood I granted them their ecstasy This pretend love I left them to die Crossing over so very few I drifted back into the night I walked the lighted night streets Until the arrival of dawn Where I drifted back to my home My tomb - My coffin Just as the tropical Erupted into their exotic song © 2010 Tina KlineReviews
