The Starvling

The Starvling

A Poem by Tina Kline

The Starvling
      is the most beautiful
Surreal
      as if
so transparent
      that she doesn't even exist
Defying reality
     as she slowly fades away
Luminous
     wraithlike
Ghostly
     her voice so soft
it's like a sigh
     caught by the wind
She dances
      spins and turns
almost invisible
like a memory
      of decades gone by
If there were no photographs
there would be no proof
that the Starvling
      even existed at all

Makes me think of anorexics, how they slowly fade away and for the most part people are awed how they can keep starving themselves. Horrified too, I'm sure, watching someone they love killing themselves.

A very interesting tale. I like the mystery of your words. You brought me in and held me to the last word. Somethings appear for a moment to teach us or destroy us. A outstanding poem.

A surreal poem, I think its about someone possibly dying of anorexia nervosa. Sad yet there is beauty to this poem as well. Awesome!
