Chapter 16

Chapter 16

A Chapter by Tina Kline

Everyone waited; tense, to see what the Other Twins would say.

Mr. Hunter looked from Mandie, then Joshie, waiting with a slight, friendly smile on his face.

    Mandie made a giggling sound.

    Joshie chuckled.

    “What?” asked Mr. Hunter.

Louise, Maple and Mr. Brown waited, wanting to know what was so amusing too.

“What do you think?” Miss Starfire asked the Other Twins.

“An outing will be fun, I think.” Joshie said.

“You’re certain Armand will be there?” Mandie asked.

Letting out a silent breath of air in relief Mr. Hunter said, “Yes. He will be there.”

“But we still need to go home soon.” said Mandie. “Does Shasta know where we are? Someone has told her?”

“Yes.” Mr. Hunter said in a rush. “She knows. She was told you’d both be returning soon.” He was glad, as were everyone in the room, that Mandie and Joshie so readily accepted the lie.

Mandie smiled wildly, her canine fangs showing.

Mr. Hunter looked away, feeling uncomfortable at the sight.

“Okay.” Louise stood. “Let’s get going. The sooner we leave the sooner we all can have fun!”

    “Okay.” Miss Starfire jumped up.

Maple and Mr. Brown emerged from the kitchen.

“I’ll walk with you all.” Mr. Brown said. “Since we are all going to the same place.”

    “Okay.” said Louise.

Miss Starfire and Mr. Hunter led the way to the door, Mandie and Joshie next and Louise and Mr. Brown brought up the rear.

“Have a good time.” Maple called after them as they left the house; keeping up the appearance they were all off to have a good time for the benefit of the Other Twins.

Armand wandered about in the forest with purpose and determination looking for Miss Feather. He did not stumble about shouting her name, hoping for an answer but tracked her, or at least tried to.

So close to the Village there were a lot of  tracks belonging to the Wolf People, in their Wolf Forms as well as in their Human Forms, all criss crossing or on top of each other. And some of these belonged to Miss Feather, recent and not so recent.

He found what he thought and hoped were the newest tracks and started following them.

They were her Wolf Prints and she had been running.

Growling softly, wanting to be with her and comfort her during this very  disappointing time for both of them he Shape Shifted into his black Wolf Form with white guard hairs and took off, following her tracks through the forest.

Armand knew he didn’t have all that much leeway to look for her, he knew he had a responsibility to his Pack and its Members to be there when his Pack and Mr. Stonevalley’s Pack went to talk to the other two Packs.

He hoped desperately Miss Feather would suddenly appear before him or show up just around the next cluster of large ferns or moss covered boulders.

    She didn’t.

    He kept going.

She traveled a long distance, Armand thought after a while, she must have been very upset.

Suddenly Armand smelled something faint and unpleasant carried on the breeze that drifted about beneath the Douglas Fir and Broadleaf Maple tree canopy.

And it was familiar. Very familiar. Armand came to a halt and froze. He opened all his senses wide.

He was alone in the little clearing. He looked around. Something awful had happened here!

He went cold inside. A struggle. It was obvious by the marks on the forest floor.

Something had happened here to Miss Feather! She had been attacked and overwhelmed!

    She had been kidnapped!

Armand felt sick with shock and horror! His world went black for a moment and he was certain he was going to pass out.

Miss Feather! Miss Feather! He sent his telepathic scream out to her.

He waited. His heart was actually hurting, a physical pain. He could tell it wasn’t beating right because of his panicked condition.

   Miss Feather!

That smell. Armand knew who had kidnapped his Miss Feather. He growled, snarled then tilted his head back and howled his outrage and challenge!

You are dead Kyle! You and your people. You are dead Kyle because I am going to kill you!

Miss Feather stared at Kyle out of her black Wolf Eyes.

She stood still while Kyle had taken a seat. He held the leash that was attached to her collar and some kind of stick that had a pointed red tip to it.

“This will hurt you Miss Feather if you try to attack me.” Kyle warned, holding the stick out for her to get a good look at it.

The room in his house they were in was beautiful Miss Feather thought but not much to her liking.

The floor had a soft covering over it; there was a shiny wooden table in front of a black couch covered with a shiny yet rough material. Comfy chairs covered with the same material, a cabinet with all sorts of things on it, smaller tables covered with plants growing out of pots and objects hung on the wall that looked similar to forest scenes but were not exact, more like distorted images than the real thing.

The windows were closed and the room was rather chilly, air was blowing about the room. Miss Feather felt uncomfortable.

But it just wasn’t the alien room or the cold air blowing that made her uncomfortable, Kyle too. And the collar and chain that he had put on her.

Plus the threat he made of hurting her.

“You’re mine now Miss Feather. In every way. You might as well get use to it.” He gave a slight yank on her chain and laughed. “I can’t wait to bed you, get you with my offspring. And no, your Wolf People will never find you. It’s all been fixed. They are not clever enough.”

He stood and rubbed his growing erection beneath the tunic he was wearing.

Miss Feather growled a warning for him to stay away from her. Her hunger for human flesh burned in her, making her stomach twist with painful need.

    Her eyes flashed red.

Kyle made a growling sound. “Oh yes, I want you in my bed, you excite me, my Wild Beautiful Beast."

How awful for Armand but at least he knows where Miss Feather is. Hope he and the other Wolf People get her back soon before something happens to her!
