Chapter 17

Chapter 17

A Chapter by Tina Kline
"

Louise's life continues with the Wolf People.

"

It seemed like a chapter in my life had closed. A very big and important chapter. The threat to my life was gone. Hopefully. But I was still in the Wolf People’s world. And I had my son Armand. And another Wolf Child possibly on the way.

Sometime later, I lost track of the sleep cycles, after Mr. Black forcefully brought me back from the Human World my friends started to show up.

First Miss Snow. Looking so graceful with her white hair and black eyes. And she was tall.

With her came Pine. Long brown hair with radiant off white eyes.

As Mr. Black let them into our house I was glad Miss Rose wasn’t with them.

After that last encounter, just before I ran off, I didn’t really want to see her again. I didn’t want to face her; she had become a problem for me!

“Louise.” Said Miss Snow as I came from the bedroom where I had been tending Armand. “It’s good to see you again!”

“Yes it is.” Said Pine. “We were concerned for you.”

“I told her you all were concerned for her and Armand.” Mr. Black said.

I didn’t answer. I sat in the one comfy chair. Miss Snow and Pine sat on the couch.

Mr. Black leaned against the wall, folding his arms across his chest and crossing one leg.

I felt awkward. This was the first time I had seen them since I had ran.

“How are you doing Louise?” Pine finally asked.

    “I’m fine.”

“I hope you realize this is your home. We are your people. Dawn and her friends are no more.” Said Snow.

“We held them. Mr. Black beheaded each one of them, including Dawn. For you.” Said Pine.

I looked at Mr. Black. He was watching me. “And for Armand.” I added.

“I would not allow my son to be without his mother, nor allow myself to be without my chosen mate.” Mr. Black said.

Now I really felt uncomfortable. It was then I heard voices outside. Coming toward the house.

I recognized Mr. Stalker’s and Miss Rose’s voices!

Now I panicked! No way did I want Miss Rose anywhere near me.

“What is it Louise?” Mr. Black asked, standing away from the wall.

He must have seen the panicked look cross my face. Not surprising since he was always watching me so closely. My eyes went to his.

Out of the corner of my vision I saw Pine and Miss Snow glance at each other.

    “Louise?” Mr. Black asked.

How did I say what was wrong to him? How did I say it with Pine and Miss Snow sitting there?

Mr. Stalker and Miss Rose were now coming up the steps.

Mr. Black squatted down in front of me, putting both hands on the arms of the chair I was sitting in, putting himself level with me.

“What is it Louise?” His voice was a soft growl now.

“Maybe we should be going.” Miss Snow stood.

“I think that would be a good idea.” Agreed Pine, standing also.

But before they could, before I found my voice and responded to Mr. Black, the door opened and in walked Mr. Stalker and Miss Rose.

I couldn’t quite contain a groan. I looked away from the door where Miss Rose and Mr. Stalker stood.

“Louise!” Said Miss Rose coming toward the chair where I sat, ignoring Mr. Black who hadn’t moved at all. “I’m so glad you’re back!”

I didn’t want to turn my head and focus my eyes on her. I squirmed in my chair. I could suddenly hear Mr. Black’s breathing. It was heavier and had increased in rhythm.

I turned my head to look at Miss Rose. When I did I felt a wave of heat flood me. I’m sure my face was red.

Miss Rose’s dark eyes were smoldering and her smile suggestive. I felt my heart rate accelerate. I thought I saw a knowing look in her dark eyes.

Mr. Black, who had been watching me the whole time, suddenly stood up from where he had been and turned to face the two newcomers.

“How is Louise?” Mr. Stalker asked him.

“Doing well. And so is Armand. I’m pleased you were all able to come visit. Perhaps we could resume Louise’s lessons soon. She still has a lot to learn.” Mr. Black said.

“Good idea.” Said Miss Rose who was still looking at me.

I made a small smile in response and looked down at the floor. I didn’t want to look at her and remember.

Now with everyone standing in the living room it felt as small as it really was. Very crowded.

Miss Rose was suddenly standing beside my chair. Then her hand was resting on my shoulder. “We should go hunting soon Louise. You and I.” She said.

“Just you two?” Mr. Black said, putting himself right in front of me.

It almost seemed as if he was somehow leaning over me, protecting me or being possessive, I wondered?

“A girl’s hunt.” Said Miss Rose.

Suddenly I didn’t like her husky voice so much. It use to fascinate me. Now it seemed sinister and threatening.

I felt pain at this. It was a loss for me. I had liked Miss Rose so much.

I wanted to shrug her hand off my shoulder but didn’t. It would raise questions I didn’t want to have to answer yet.

“Then Miss Snow and Pine will join you….on this girl’s hunt.” Said Mr. Black

I was aware suddenly he felt how uncomfortable I was. And I was aware there was a silent challenge going on between Miss Rose and Mr. Black! Over me!

I wanted to get up from the chair and flee to the bedroom where Armand slept.

“We’ll hunt.” Mr. Stalker said. “And forget girl’s night! I won’t be left out.”

“None of us wants to be left out.” Said Pine.

“It’s settled then.” Said Mr. Black. “Once Louise has had a little more time to recover from her…adventure.” He slowly moved into Miss Rose’s space where she stood, forcing her to remove her hand from my shoulder and back away.

She didn’t look at all happy when I glanced at her real quick.

Miss Rose made a small angry sound. Then she turned to the others, “Maybe we should go.”

“We’ll do that hunt.” Said Mr. Stalker. “How about soon?”

“We’ll see.” Said Mr. Black showing them all to the door.

Once they were gone I sighed with relief. Then I jumped up out of the chair and hurried to the bedroom. Mr. Black was right behind me.

“They don’t know I might be pregnant.” I said settling on the bed. “I’m not allowed to shape shift, right, when I’m pregnant?”

“We’ll see.” Said Mr. Black. “You did alright with Armand.” He sat on the bed close to me. “Are things not alright with you and Miss Rose?”

“I just felt uncomfortable. She was so close.” I said. I didn’t want to tell Mr. Black what she had done. I couldn’t find it in me yet to do so.

“Hmmm.” He said. “If you have any problems with anyone let me know. I want no more Dawn episodes to happen.”

I could tell he knew there was more to it than what I had just said concerning my reaction to Miss Rose just now.

“I’ll tell you.” I said. And I decided I would if Miss Rose became a real problem. I would just have to find the strength in me to do so. But first I just needed to find a way to encourage Miss Rose not to come around me anymore. If I could do this, it would prevent her from becoming a problem in the first place. So I thought.

Louise is still having problems with Miss Rose. That's not helping her any to adjust, someone always comes along and disrupts her life. Perhaps Mr. Black will put an end to this problem.

What's going on with Mrs. Rose? I liked her and now I am not so sure what her motives are. I like not knowing it keeps the story fresh and holds your attention making it an easy enjoyable read.
