Winter In AlaskaA Chapter by Tina KlineAn ANN THE VAMPIRE story.Ann and Eddie were sitting on their bed gazing out the floor to ceiling glass wall. Snow was on the ground and had accumulating on the evergreen trees and the dark crystal clear sky overhead was ablaze with the aurora boralis. It was shifting and coiling in the solar winds. Even inside they could hear it crackling and hissing. Ann sighed, “I think Tina is happy with Jake. I'm so glad.” “You think she will stay in Alaska now and not return to Seattle?” Ann flashed him a smile, “Yes I am thinking that. I know she closed up her life down there so why open it again? Her life is here now. With us.” “Hmm.” Eddie nodded, returning his gaze out the window. “That would be nice Ann. I want you to be happy and I know having your sister here makes you very happy.” Ann smiled and let out a rush of air, “Oh yes! And to think she is a vampire as well. Who would have guessed?” Eddie laughed, her excitement effecting him, “I don't think any of us could.” “And she gets along with the rest, especially Tyler.” Eddie nodded, “Julie and Sarah like her.” “As does Justin. She fits in perfectly. And she was so excited when Jake made her a member of h is Pack.” “Hmm. You're not worried her love for him will drive her to his pack?” Ann looked at him, her eyes wide, “Never! She is not a wolf. They can't be true mates.” Eddie smiled, “That's good.” But he had his doubts. True love could accomplish or destroy all sorts of strong and powerful things. Ann slid off the bed, “I need to hunt. Join me tonight?” She reached out her hand to her mate. He took it, sliding of the bed and coming to stand beside her, “Yes, I will. I think Julie and Sarah went hunting together and Justin and Tyler did as well. So we can, my love.” He bent and kissed Ann's mouth. Ann smiled, “So let's go.” “What about your sister?” “She is with Jake. I'm sure she drain some stupid human's blood and he ate up the body for her. No evidence at all.” She laughed. Eddie joined in the laughter. * When Ann and Eddie returned to their home they saw Tina and Jake playing out in the snow in the yard. They were throwing snow balls at each other. How fun, Ann thought. How happy I am to see Tina happy. “Look Eddie! They're playing.” “Yes.” Their mighty feather wings unfurled wide and catching the air currents they circled lower and lower until they could come to a landing on their feet. By then Tina and Jake had stopped playing and were watching them. “Ann!” Tina waved. “Tina!” Tina and Jake walked over to where they were landed in the snow. Tyler and Justin were just coming in as well and landed close to where and Eddie landed. “Everyone is showing up!” Tina said. “Yeah.” agreed Jake. “Maybe we ought to go so we can be alone.” He looked at her hopefully. “Not yet.” Tina said in return. Jake gave her a flashy smile, “Just trying.” “You're a good boy.” “Yeah. I like that game.” He grinned. Tina slapped his arm, “You're a bad boy and I know already you like that game too so stop, okay?” Jake put his arm around her and they all gathered together in the yard. “The aurora is beautiful but more snow is coming.” Tyler said. “Really? It seems to snow here all winter long.” Tina said. “Is that too much for you?” Ann asked her. “No. No. I remember when I was human and living in Portland or the surrounding area I wanted it to snow and it hardly ever did. I'm getting my fill of it now. It is a good thing.” “Good.” Ann said in relief. “It is very pretty auntie, don't yo think?” Tyler asked. He knew his mom didn't want Tina to leave. They all knew this. “It is. All white and pretty. And the cold doesn't bother me at all.” Tina answered. “Then you'll stick around a while?” Tyler asked. Ann, Eddie, Jake and Justin watched Tina closely. “Of course. Winter in Alaska. Why would I want to miss that?” Tina said, with a tinkling laugh. “Yeah, why would anyone want to miss winter in Alaska?” Ann asked and they all joined in the laughter.
