First Snow

First Snow

A Poem by Tina Kline

First snow tonight
first flakes
turning the nighttime world white
Beauty beyond compare
This wintry wonderland
developing
right before my childlike eyes
Snow! It's snowing!
on this Christmas Eve
white flakes twirling earthward
accumulating
a white blanket, soft and cold
creating an eerie silence
as the dull grey wintry landscape
is blessed with nature's gift
beautiful white snow
and I can say this night
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
I'm hoping for a white Christmas
but a white Christmas Eve
is such a special delight
as I gaze with wide childish eyes
out the window
 onto this wintry white night

We didn't have a white Christmas yet again where I'm from, but this lovely and lucidly penned poem almost made up for the disappointment!

Another fine write Tina !

First snow, it has its own excitement and charm. I enjoy snow and there is a lot where I live in winter.

Beautiful poem. There is little more extraordinary than watching the world turn white with snow. Though it never happens at Christmas here, being in the opposite hemisphere and all.

A beautiful scene is first snow before it gets tire tracks or human footprints in it. I don't mind animal footprints. They enhance the beauty of first snow. An extraordinary poem.

No snow in Michigan. Sixty degrees today. Snow is cool when you can stay home with the Grandchildren. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry my friend.
