ReunionA Chapter by Tina KlineAn ANN THE VAMPIRE story.
Ann and Eddie had just returned from hunting and were sitting together on their bed cross legged talking, just enjoying each others company. Sarah and Julie were off hunting together while Justin and Tyler were out in the front yard playing with the Husky dogs. They still hitched them to the sled and took long sled rides but they didn't trap anymore. Suddenly the dogs all froze, staring in one direction. The night was chilly but not too cold and the leafy trees were all ablaze with fiery colors. Winter wasn't far off. “Hey. Would you look at that.” Tyler said, “Somethings coming.” “Probably a moose.” Justin replied. Several of the huskies growled softly, the others remained alert, watching something coming through the woods. “This might not be good. We need to alert Ann and Eddie.” Tyler said, moving toward the house.
Upstairs in their room Ann stopped talking. She lifted her head, trying to sense something. “What is it Ann?” Eddie asked. “Someone's coming. A vampire. They almost seem familiar. I'm not sure.” Ann slid off the bed and stood. Eddie did as well. “Mom! Eddie!” Tyler called from downstairs. “Something is coming toward us through the woods!” Ann and Eddie flew out of their room and down the stairs. They met Tyler coming up. “It's a vampire.” Ann told Tyler as they all there rushed the rest of the way down the stairs and out the front door. Justin stood watching the dogs as they focused on whoever it was coming through the forest. There was no sound of their passage through the undergrowth. “Notice how silent they move? No human could move like that.” Ann told the. “Are we in danger? Julie and Sara didn't pick a good time to go off hunting.” Justin said, irritation in his voice. “I sense no danger.” Ann said. She looked up at Eddie.”Do you?” “No. But we all must stand together and be strong until we know who this vampire is and what he or she wants.” Eddie said. “I agree.” said Ann. And it wasn't long before a very slender female vampire steeped out of the forest and into the clearing that was their back yard. Seeing all the dogs watching her with lips pulled back in silent snarls brought the female vampire to a halt. She looked at them and then looked at the group of vampires standing just in front of the porch. She looked all the vampires over but her eyes settled on Ann. “Ann?” the female vampire asked. “Is that you Ann? Ann Margo?” Ann let out a scream and started crying blood tears. “Oh my God! Oh my God?” Everyone was confused now, glancing back and forth between Ann and this strange female vampire. The female vampire started crying blood tears too, putting her hands over her mouth as shes sobbed. “What's going on Eddie?” Tyler asked. Eddie shook his head and put a finger to his lips. He walked across the yard to the now sobbing female vampire. The dogs parted for him. “Come join us?” he asked as kindly and gently as he could.. She nodded. Eddie gently took her arm and guided her to where Ann stood with Justin and Tyler. “Ann.” the female vampire sobbed out and held open her arms. Ann flew into them and they hugged each other tightly. “Who is she?” Tyler whispered to Eddie. “I notice a resemblance and thus conclude she is somehow related to Ann.” “Really?” Tyler looked hard at the female vampire. “Yes I see it? She's a relative of mine from the human world?” “Yes, but she's not human. She's a vampire too.” Eddie said. “Tina! I thought you'd be dead by now. Well, that didn't sound right but I thought we'd never see each other again! What happened? You look younger than I remember you looked.” They stood back from each other now, but holding hands still. “I became a vampire. I live in Seattle now. I heard rumors about you and your Clan up here in Alaska. You and Tyler. I had to come see for myself if you were my little sister. I now see what happened to Tyler when he went missing and was never found.” She let out another sob. “And you are.” She looked at Tyler and Justin. “One of this fine gentlemen must be my nephew.” She pointed at Tyler. “You have the right coloring.” “I am Tyler.” “This is Justin. And this is Eddie.” Ann introduced, “This is my sister Tina.” Tyler smiled, “I think I remember you.” “It's been a while
and you were so young when you went missing. You have a good
memory.” “Hi Tina.” said Eddie. “Hi. I”m so glad I found you.” Tina said. “I've missed you Ann ever since...you know.” “I know.” Ann smiled. “Shall we go inside and talk? I wanted to know how you became a vampire.” “And I want to know what happened to you.” Tina said.:Yes, we need to catch up. I'm so pleased I cam looking for you. The rumors were true.” Ann smiled, wiping the blood tears from her face as they all went in and sat in the front room. Her sister was alive! It had to be a miracle, a grace of God, or something. But Ann couldn't have been happier. © 2015 Tina KlineAuthor's Note
