Moonlit Meadow

Moonlit Meadow

A Poem by Tina Kline

Beneath a velvety night sky

in a breeze like a soft sigh

giant milk white oriental poppies bob

silver daisies dance

slate grey bachelor buttons sway

Long grasses of fading metallic white swish

while a cloud of silver, grey and black

swirl madly together

like a tornado it rises higher and higher

and way up there, somewhere

it explodes

metallic petals flash as they drop down like rain

cascading objects sparkle in the moonlight

as a million or more butterflies

descend upon the meadow

landing here, there and everywhere

wings folded and quivering with living breath

like so many flowers come alive

the butterflies pause long enough

to feed

before rising up into the velvety moonlit sky

once more

This poem impresses an expansive monochrome image in the reader’s mind. Not only do flowers bloom in the meadow, but ,in yearly cycles, a huge moonlit bloom composed of butterflies envelopes this meadow. Our universe is composed of dynamic geometric displays such as galaxies on the macroscopic scale, bacterial blooms on the microscopic scale, and algae blooms on the midrange scale.

melded together so well, sounds like one voice...
and the imagery is startling...you usually write darker...it is nice to see that under that velvety moon there is life rising...and the moonlight shines a bright light on nature so all can grow.

It's very pretty. It's fun to collaborate with someone. I've never done it with writing, but I've done it with art.
