Cold Winds Of Autumn

Cold Winds Of Autumn

A Poem by Tina Kline

Autumn chill on the air
Leaves fluttering on the ground
Silently gathering in reds and yellows
Overhead the passing geese sound

Sheets of cold rain falling
Naked trees claw at the grey sky
Dried husks of plants twitch in the wind
In the cold night coyotes cry

This is an extraordinarily beautiful poem. It inspired me to write another rendition of it which you may keep as your own as a gift since it uses all of your ideas and some of your words: Each line has /0/0/0/ syllable meter where / is an accent, and 0 is a non-accent: It may be sung as a song:

Autumn

Chilly Fall winds form soft beds
where leaves flutter on the ground,
yellows mix with browns, and reds,
overhead loud geese resound.

Sheets of hail begin to fall
Dried husks twitch below the sky.
Naked trees claw at this pall,
as coyotes shout their cry.

You are always welcome,dear poet.
And that's what I'd see one autumn day. I haven't seen one yet. Dry colored leaves dancing with the cold wind. A sight, indeed. Beautiful picture, I'll surely capture someday. :)

The images in this poem, and the way you establish them, remind me a whole lot of the sort you would see in a haiku. They are very crisp and they make observations of the natural world that really capture the essence of the objects you write about. My favorite lines are about the coyotes out in that cold night.
