Winter

Winter

A Poem by Tina Kline

Autumn leaves falling
Deep into yesterday
In the cold sky overhead
Heaving shifting shades of grey

Nowhere is safe
Winter cold seeping in
Hungry birds twitter
Gusting are the winds

Bare limbs rattling
Clawing at the icy sky
Geese have long since left
Still echoing are their cries

Frozen raindrops glitter
Coating the bare winter limbs
The ground frozen stone hard
Winter has cycled around again

You write of the seasons such as this winter cold with such finesse! I can just see the frozen raindrops glittering on the bare winter limbs!! This has powerful imagery.

Thank you very much!
Winter can be beautiful, but it has its dark side, too, and you described it wonderfully here.

I also prefer 'grey' over 'gray'. I think it is more powerful.

Thank you and I agree with you on the difference between gray and grey.
Winter and her cold cold grasp . sleep, perchance to dream, for spring awaits
