Dual Lady

Dual Lady

A Poem by Tina Kline

"

She opened her mouth wide and swallowed the sun
It was a cataclysmic event when darkness reigned
The tiny people became crazed and frantic
The whole event was mythical and very strange

No dragon did this, it was just a young girl
An old woman who was inflamed with madness
They are one and the same, like yin and yang

The moon is gone but they are still so hungry
Consummating nothing they yearn to try and try again
This time they swallowed the moon and half the stars
Ecstatic, they howl and scream into the dark wind

Their hamartia* is hidden by their erratic behavior
But their behavior only spells certain doom
The young girl and the old woman, they are the same person
Crying in failure they seek forth and more planets were lost

Believe nothing but believe everything else
A tale that maybe is really true
Where in the universe, the galaxies or cosmos
Find the dual lady and maybe she'll tell you

*Tragic flaw

Almost sounds as if you are talking about the twin black holes they found recently yet at the same time it would seem that you are describing the duality that is the human mind. Feeling young and yet aging in time. It is an aspect that I often am at odds with myself.

Thanks a lot Sean and its really nice to see you on there again! :)
This reads like a legend or a myth. I can imagine this story being told on some dark night where everyone takes a turn or maybe its a lesson for youngsters. The imagery in this is powerful as is the tale. Very haunting. Good poem!

Very nice poem. For me it describes a black hole, which consumes everything and inside of it time ceases to exist, hence the old woman and young girl at the same time.
