Surprises

Surprises

A Poem by Tinamac
"

A bit of a catty, twisty little number of mine...

"

Surprises.

Without the sun there is no light.  Without your love I have no sight.

I swing my crutch from left to right, and pray I make it home tonight.

And in the morning when I rise, you'll be there to criticize.

What I choose is my demise- so this is me....

Surprise - surprise.

I sure don't know that you wont go, so with your love I cannot grow.

You'll be gone, yes, out of sight.  So pray I make it home tonight.

And in the morning, if I rise, there'll be nought to criticize.

What I choose is your demise, so this is us...

Surprise - surprise.

Without the sky we could not fly, without the pressure I would not try,

to make you my exclusive guy, to pray you'll never ask me why.

So in the morning when you rise, I'll be there to criticize.

What you choose is your demise, from me to you ...

Surprise - surprise.

We turn away from our own mess, because our love was too much stress.

Because our hearts kneel to confess, you see, with love, you cannot geuss.

I turn away to my own maze, because you're lost beyond a haze.

Because I'm set in my own ways, you see, we've seen our final days.

Surprise - surprise.

You turn away for your own sake, because your love I could not take.

Because your heart I had to break, you see, it's love I cannot fake.

Surprise-surprise.

"A bit of a catty, twisty little number".
Seems like you summed this up quite nicely.
But, what sums up this relationship ? Is there hope ?
Forgive me, but this seems like such a painful way to
live--- I suggest you either get in, accept, surrender or
get out. The poem sounds like a dead end life, but then
you probably are just writing about a fantasy couple--I hope.
This is a very clever little poem, flows smoothly, excellent choice
of words and construction. Great talent!
Thank You !
